Safety
It's easy to bike safely and in comfort all year round in the city.
Safety Basics
- Use bike routes/ lanes
- Always use a front and rear light in the dark
- Bells are the law and lets you warn those around you
- Always wear a helmet! Duhhh!
Cold Weather Riding
Here in Toronto biking is a 4 season activity. Don't let the cold weather and short daylight hours get you down.
Tips:
- Dress for it! Bateman's stocks a selection of cycling outerwear including jackets, gloves, head bands and pants.
- Light Up! Fall and Winter brings shorter days, drop by Bateman's to check out our selection of commuter lights that allow you to be seen at night (it's the law!) visit our YouTube Channel for some light reviews.
- The Right Bike. Rain, slush and road salt can be hard on your bike. Consider riding a second 'beater' bike in the cold weather and save your 'baby' for the summer.
