Great Light, Weak Mount !

By

About Me Casual/ Recreational

Pros

  • Great visibility

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Night commute
    • Front headlight

    Comments:

The light is great, very bright, great beam,to see with and be seen. The problem with the set up is the mount. If you are going to use this light on anything other than paved roads, I would not recommned it. The mount will not stay tight on rough terrain/roads. I bought the light, then read reviews, and all have said the same thing, the mount stinks.

    Comments:

Used this on two night commutes along with a 10watt halogen and a Blackburn 4.0. The Blackburn, about the same price, is not as bright - equivalent to 5 or 6 watt halogen - but has a much broader beam so you can see several feet to either side, plus flash mode. low beam, side lights. The EL-530 is as bright as the 10watt halogen, but its so narrowly focused that it only lights up about a 2ft dia cirlce on the roadway. The switch is really simple and easy to use in cold weather. No flash mode, no side lighting. Just on and off!
